Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman was born on 9th April 1987 as Dayangku Sarah at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital in the capital of Brunei Darussalam, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Princess Sarah is the third and youngest child of Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman bin Pengiran Haji Damit and Rinawaty binti Abdullah @ Suzanne Rahaman Aeby. Her mother is Swiss. Her two elder brothers are Awangku Irwan and Awangku Adrian.

Princess Sarah's education began in 1993 at the age of six at St. Andrews School where she sat for her Primary Certificate of Education examination in 1988 with outstanding results. She joined the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College where she passed her examinations for the Brunei Junior Certificate in 2001 and Cambridge General Certificate of Examination O Levels in 2003. Despite her busy schedule as the consort to the Crown Prince, she still managed to find time to continue here education where she is still currently studying at the same college for her pre-university education. She has not only earned commendations from her teachers for her academic ability but also for her involvement in sports and charity runs. She is well-known among her teachers and friends for her grace, intelligence and positive attitude towards work in all areas.

Princess Sarah is a basketball enthuasiast and is also active in outdoor activities. She has taken part in charity runs organised by her college. She also has joined her parents on International Four-Wheel Drive expeditions to Trans-Kalimantan-Java-Bali, Brunei-Sarawak-Kalimantan-Sulawesi and Brunei-Hongkong-China-Mongolia.

The Crown Prince and Princess Sarah was married in a grand ceremony on 9th September 2004.

Her Parents

Her father, Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman bin Pengiran Haji Damit was born on 1st June 1950. He studied at Aston University in Birmingham, England and attended a special skills course in labaratory sciences in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry. He worked at the Public Works Department as Chief Laboratory Assistant at the Water Services Division. He is a member of Brunei Amateur Radio Society (Ham Radio) and is very active in the four-wheel-drive expeditions.

Her mother, Dayang Rinawaty binti Abdullah nee Suzanne Rahaman Abey was born in Fribourg, Switzerland on 3rd March 1954. She is the youngest child of Pius Johann Aeby and Marie Aeby-Boschung. She studied at the Ecole des Art et Mertiers (Domestic Science Diploma), Residential Commercial College (Commercial Diploma), Psychiatric Nursing College (Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing). She is fluent in German, French, English and Malay. She used to work at the Psychiatric Hospital of Marsens and Prangin in Switzerland and later at the General Hospital and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. She then joined the CfBT, a non-profit UK organisation specialising in expatriate teaching. She enjoys music, classical and modern theatre.

Royal Wedding Songs

The Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince to Her Royal Highness Princess Sarah (then Dayangku Sarah) in August 2004 inspired a number of songs which were played regularly on the local media. The compact disc compiling all the songs were released soon after the wedding.
