Introduction
Dato Hamdillah is the Deputy Minister of Industry and Primary Resources since May 2005 and was the first person from the private sector to be appointed to a political post. He was the Chief Executive of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad. He was Chairman of the APEC 2000 SME Business Forum, E-Trade Fair and APEC 2000 CEO Summit in November 2000. He was ABAC Member (1996 - 2000), Co Chair SME Committee (1997) and Co-Chair SME Informal Caucus (2000).
Dato Hamidllah served as Director of the Board of BLNG Sdn Bhd, Brunei Shell Funds Sdn Bhd, Brunei Shell Petroleum Co and Brunei Shell Tankers Sdn bhd. He holds and had held a number of appointments including as a advisor to Ketua Kampung of Lumut Village under the Ministry of Hame Affairs, council member of University Brunei Darussalam, a member of the Belait Municipal and Steering Committee member of the Brunei Gas Masterplan. Dato Hamdillah is noted for his public service, expecially in support of the development of small and medium enterprises and young entrepreneurs. For these, he was awarded the honorary title Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei (SNB) in 1993. He was conferred the title Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Darjah Kedua (DPMB) by His Majesty in 1998.
Dato Hamdillah is a 1974 Chemical Engineering graduate from McGill University in Montreal. He worked as Research Assistant in the Pulp & Paper Research Institute, McGill University, Plant Technologist in Shell United Kingdom Stanlow Refinery, Technical Adviser in Shell International Head Office, Den Haag and Plant Manager of Shell Pernis Refinery in Rotterdam in Holland. He is Founding President of Brunei-Japan Friendship (BJFA) and Brunei Energy Association (BEnA).
